Vronify.chat is built in the Netherlands by a small team that got tired of platforms owning their users. So we built one that does not. This page explains who we are, how we work, and what we will never do.
From an empty folder.
We built this platform from 0 lines of code, to over 125.000 lines of code.
No template underneath, no white label product with our logo on top. Every screen, every feature, and every fix in Vronify.chat was written by hand, by people who use it every day. That is slower than buying something off the shelf, and it is the only way to end up with a platform that actually behaves the way we promised.
It also means that when we say your account is yours or that your DMs stay private, those are commitments we build and keep ourselves, not policies we hope a vendor honors.
Why hand-written matters
When a company rents its stack, it inherits the stack's choices. The rented chat engine decides how fast messages move. The rented moderation layer decides what a ban means. The analytics package that came bundled decides what gets tracked. The company on top can write any privacy policy it likes; the software underneath does what it was already built to do.
We do not have that gap. Every promise on this site maps to code we can point at. When something breaks, we fix the actual line instead of filing a ticket with a vendor and waiting. When a feature conflicts with a promise, we change the feature, because the promise is the product.
What those lines add up to
The codebase covers everything you touch: real-time messaging with edits, replies, reactions, and read receipts; voice channels; roles and permissions; an audit log; slow mode and automated filters; categories, threads, polls, pinned messages, and bookmarks; custom emoji and server tags; per-server nicknames, custom profiles, and a full set of themes, appearance, and accessibility settings. The whole thing runs in your browser with nothing to install, and a server is one link away for anyone you invite. The features page walks through all of it.
The honest cost
Building everything ourselves has a price, and you should know it: we ship fewer things at once. When you see "coming soon" on this site, next to the bot engine or the mobile and desktop apps, that is us refusing to bolt on a third-party shortcut to hit a date. We think a platform that keeps its promises slowly beats one that breaks them quickly.

Your account is yours
A ban only stops participation. You keep your account, every message you ever sent, and the DMs you received, unless the sender removed them. Punishment is not confiscation.
Private means private
DMs are private, seen only by the people in the conversation. We never sell data, never show ads, and never read private conversations. Full stop.
Speed is a feature
Under 40ms median message delivery in Europe, because we own the machines and tune the whole path ourselves. Chat should feel like conversation, not correspondence.
Nothing is watching you
Zero trackers, zero ads, zero data brokers. The product is the chat itself, not your attention and not a profile of your behavior sold to someone you have never met.
Free at the core
Core features stay free forever. Optional extras for power users come later, and nothing you rely on today will ever land behind a surprise paywall.
Honest trade-offs
Community channels are visible to their community and its moderators, on purpose, so moderators can keep public spaces safe. We would rather explain a trade-off than pretend it does not exist.

The platform runs on machines we own and tune ourselves. That is why it is fast, and it is why there is no third party sitting between you and your community.
Why we own the machines
Most platforms rent capacity from a cloud giant and accept whatever performance and jurisdiction come with it. We went the other way. Owning the hardware means we control the full path a message travels, from the moment you press enter to the moment it lands on someone's screen, and we tune every step of it. It is how a small team delivers a median under 40ms in Europe and holds 99.9% uptime across the last 12 months, and it is how a single server supports 50k+ members without falling over.
It also means accountability has an address. When something degrades, we fix machines we can reach, not a support queue at a hosting reseller. You can watch us hold that line on the status page, which reports honestly, including when things go wrong.
Why the Netherlands matters
We build and operate from the Netherlands, inside one of the strongest privacy frameworks in the world. Your data does not pass through an ad-tech pipeline on its way to you, because there is no ad-tech pipeline. There is no analytics vendor, no data broker, and no embedded tracker with its own agenda. The only parties in the room are you, your community, and us.

We feel the gap ourselves
We run our own communities on Vronify.chat, every day. Most of the roadmap comes from our own friction, and the rest comes from server owners who write in through support. Nothing gets built because a competitor has it.
We build it by hand
New features are written into the same codebase as everything else, never glued on through a third-party service. That is how a new feature inherits the platform's speed and its privacy promises on day one, instead of eroding them.
We try to break it first
Before anything reaches you, we attack it on our own servers: permission edge cases, moderation abuse paths, what happens at the size of a 50k+ member community. A feature that only works on the happy path is not done.

Who builds Vronify.chat?
A small team in the Netherlands, working under the name Vronify. We keep the team small on purpose: every person who works on the platform also uses it daily, and every promise on this site was written by someone who has to keep it. We do not publish headcounts or bios, but the contact page reaches us directly.
Is it really built from scratch?
Yes. We started at zero lines and are past 125.000, all hand-written. There is no chat template, no white-label engine, and no rebranded product underneath. That matters because the behavior you rely on, from account ownership to private DMs, is implemented by us rather than inherited from a vendor whose priorities we cannot control.
How do you make money without ads?
Core features are free forever, and the plan is optional extras for power users later, things you can choose to pay for because they are worth it, not things we take away and sell back. What is off the table permanently: advertising, trackers, and selling data. A business model that depends on watching you is the exact thing we built this platform to escape.
Where does my data live, and can I take it with me?
Your data lives on hardware we own and operate in the Netherlands, and it stays yours. You can export your data any time. If you want out completely, you can delete your account, which anonymizes it: your name and profile are removed, and the messages you already sent stay in their conversations attributed to a deleted, anonymous user. Export first if you want a copy, because anonymizing your account cannot be undone. We never hold data hostage; details are on the account ownership page.
Why are DMs private but community channels are moderated?
Because the two spaces have different jobs. DMs are private conversations, so in the app only the people in them can see them and our staff do not read private conversations. Community channels are shared spaces where moderators need to see what is happening to keep members safe, so they are visible to their community and its moderators. We could market "everything private" and quietly make moderation impossible; we chose to tell you the trade-off instead. More on the privacy page.
Is there a mobile or desktop app?
The browser version is available now and is built browser-first, so there is nothing to install on any device, including your phone. Native mobile apps for iOS and Android and desktop apps for Windows, macOS, and Linux are coming soon. Releases are announced in the changelog.
How do I report a problem or a security issue?
For general questions and product problems, start at support. For security research, read the vulnerability disclosure policy and report responsibly; we read those reports ourselves and fix what you find. For everything else, from press to partnerships, the contact page has addresses that reach real people, not a ticket void.
