Every month we feature public servers that are active, welcoming, and well moderated. There is no form to fill in and nothing to pay. Being good is the application. This page explains exactly how that works, what we look for, and how to get your server ready.
What featuring is, and why we do it.
A monthly, human-picked spotlight on the servers that make the platform worth joining.
Every discovery page has the same problem: the servers with the biggest numbers float to the top, and the servers with the best conversations get buried under them. Member counts are easy to accumulate and easy to fake with time. What they do not tell you is whether anyone will answer when you say hello.
Featured Communities is our answer. We look at public servers on Explore and pick a handful each month that stand out. Featured servers get a badge and a spot at the top of Explore for the month. That is the whole program: no fees, no favors, and no way to buy your way in.
Three things carry the most weight when we choose:
- Activity. Real conversations happening now, not member counts padded years ago.
- Welcome. New members get greeted, questions get answered, rules are clear and visible.
- Moderation. Staff who are present, an audit log that shows care, and channels that stay on topic.
Not an ad slot
On plenty of platforms, "featured" quietly means "paid." A server buys placement, gets a burst of joins from people who were promised something the community never was, and both sides walk away disappointed. We refuse to run the program that way. Featuring on Vronify.chat cannot be bought, traded, or negotiated, and we do not accept payment to look at a server sooner. The spotlight is only worth pointing at communities that earned it, because the moment members learn a badge can be purchased, the badge stops meaning anything.
Picked by people, not a formula
There is no secret score to optimize. A person from the team actually reads your public channels the way a new member would: joins through the public listing, scrolls the recent history, checks whether the rules match what actually happens in chat. Metrics tell us where to look; they never make the decision. That means a small server with lively daily conversation can beat a huge server that went quiet a year ago, and it regularly does.
Think your community qualifies? Make sure it is listed publicly, keep doing what you are doing, and say hello via the contact page if you want us to take a look. Nominations are welcome but never required; most featured servers never contacted us at all.
How the monthly cycle works.
From a public listing to a badge at the top of Explore, in four steps.
We browse Explore like a new member would
Every cycle starts on the public Explore page, the same one every member sees. Only servers listed there are eligible: if your community is invite-only or unlisted, we cannot consider it, because members could not find it either. Nominations sent through the contact page get added to the pile, but they skip no steps.
We build a shortlist
From everything public, we pull together servers that look alive: recent messages, replies that get answered, polls people actually vote in. This is where padded member counts stop helping. A server of forty people talking every day makes the shortlist ahead of a server of thousands where the last message is months old.
We read, join, and check the details
Shortlisted servers get a real visit. We read the rules and check they are followed, watch how newcomers are treated in the first minutes after joining, and look at whether channels stay on topic. Everything we review is public-facing: your public channels, your listing, your rules. We never read anyone's DMs, because they are private.
Featured servers go live for the month
The handful that stand out get the featured badge and a spot at the top of Explore for the month. Owners do not need to configure anything; the placement is applied by us and removed by us when the month ends. Next cycle, the process starts over from step one, and previous winners get no head start.

Activity
Real conversations happening now, not member counts padded years ago. We read timestamps, not totals. Daily back-and-forth in a small server outweighs a big server's silence every time.
Welcome
New members get greeted, questions get answered, and rules are clear and visible. We watch what happens in the first few minutes after someone joins, because that is the moment they decide to stay.
Moderation
Staff who are present, an audit log that shows care, and channels that stay on topic. Quiet, consistent moderation reads as health; a log full of nothing but mass bans reads as trouble.
Rules that match reality
A rules channel is easy; rules that are actually enforced are rarer. We compare what your rules promise with what your chat shows. Pinned rules, honest tone, no gap between the two.
Structure that helps
Categories that make sense, channels with a purpose, and threads used to keep long tangents from drowning the main conversation. A newcomer should know where to post within thirty seconds.
A finished listing
An icon, a banner, a description that says who the server is for, and server tags that are accurate. Your Explore listing is your front door; we notice when it is cared for.

What being featured gets you

What featuring never does
- Give us any control, role, or permission inside your server
- Change your settings, your roles, or how you moderate
- Cost you anything, or oblige you to anything afterwards
- Exempt you from the community guidelines everyone follows
One honest trade-off worth naming: a feature brings a wave of newcomers, and a wave of newcomers is work. Questions repeat, off-topic chatter rises, and your moderators will be busier than usual for a few weeks. The servers that benefit most from featuring are the ones whose onboarding and moderation were already solid, which is exactly why those are the things we select for. If a spotlight would break your server, you were not ready for one, and we would rather wait a cycle than watch that happen.
Getting your server ready.
You cannot apply, but you can absolutely prepare. Everything below helps whether we ever feature you or not.
List it publicly
This is the only hard requirement. Featuring starts on Explore, so a server that is not publicly listed is invisible to the process. Make your listing complete while you are at it: an icon, a banner, an honest description, and accurate server tags so the right people find you. Fix the first five minutes
Join your own server with fresh eyes, or ask a friend who has never seen it. Can they tell what the server is about? Do they know where to introduce themselves? Are the rules findable without scrolling? Pin the messages that answer recurring questions, keep the rules short enough that people actually read them, and make sure someone says hello when a newcomer speaks. Featured or not, this is the single highest-leverage improvement most servers can make.
Put your moderation in order
Set up roles and permissions so your staff can act without owning the place, and so members can see at a glance who to ask for help. Turn on slow mode in channels that tend to overheat, and let automated filters catch the obvious junk before a human has to. Review your audit log occasionally, not because we will, but because it tells you honestly how much moderation your server actually needs. The moderation guide covers all of this in depth.
Keep channels on topic
Sprawl is the quiet killer of good servers. Fewer channels with clear purposes beat many channels that are mostly empty. Use categories to group what belongs together, threads to contain long tangents, and delete or merge channels nobody uses. A newcomer who sees forty dead channels assumes the server is dead too, even if one channel is thriving.
Then just run a good community
There is no trick after that. The owner handbook collects everything we know about running healthy communities, and every bit of it doubles as preparation for featuring, because featuring selects for exactly the same things. Communities built to impress a reviewer for one month tend to be obvious; communities built for their members tend to get featured.

How do I apply?
You do not, and that is the point. There is no form to fill in and nothing to pay. Make sure your server is listed publicly on Explore, keep running it well, and you are in the running every month automatically. If you would like to point us at your community, say hello via the contact page; nominations are welcome, but they skip no steps and buy no advantage.
Does featuring cost anything, now or later?
No. There are no fees, no favors, and no way to buy your way in. There is also no catch afterwards: being featured creates no obligation, no subscription, and no expectation beyond following the same community guidelines as every other server. Core features on Vronify.chat stay free, and featuring is no exception.
My server is small. Do we stand a chance?
Yes, genuinely. We select for real conversations happening now, not member counts padded years ago. A small server where people talk every day and newcomers get greeted reads as healthier than a large one that went quiet, and the selection reflects that. Some of the strongest candidates each month are communities most people have never heard of.
How long does a feature last, and can we be featured again?
A feature runs for the month: the badge and the top-of-Explore placement are applied by us and removed by us when the cycle ends. After that, everyone starts from zero again. Previous winners get no head start, but nothing rules them out either; a community that stays excellent can be featured more than once.
Does the review give the team access to my server?
Only the access any member of the public already has. We join through your public listing and read public channels, your rules, and your Explore listing, the same way a newcomer would. We take no role, change no settings, and see nothing private. Direct messages are private, so we don't read those.
What if the feature brings more members than we can handle?
The platform will not be your bottleneck: a single server supports 50k+ members, and tools like slow mode, automated filters, and roles and permissions exist for exactly these weeks. The human side is the real work, so brief your moderators before the month starts, pin the answers to the questions newcomers always ask, and lean on the moderation guide. We deliberately feature servers whose moderation already looks ready for the attention.
Can a featured server lose its feature early?
Yes. Featured servers follow the same community guidelines as everyone else, with no exemptions. If a server changes character mid-month in a way that breaks those guidelines, we remove the badge and the placement. The badge is a statement that we vouch for a community; we will not keep vouching for one that stops deserving it.
We were not picked. Can we find out why?
We feature only a handful of servers each month, so most good servers are not picked in any given cycle, and that is not a judgment against them. We cannot send individual review notes for every server on Explore, but the criteria on this page are the real ones, in the real order of weight: activity, welcome, moderation. If those three are honestly strong, you are the kind of server the program exists for, and the next cycle starts soon.
